In 1949, James J. Ponzio envisioned a new era in dining. He wanted to provide his customers with an attractive surrounding, excellent food, air conditioning, good service, reasonable prices, and ample parking. On October 26, 1949 the original Ponzio's was open for business in Brooklawn, New Jersey. His new restaurant featured the finest equipment, a huge clean kitchen, on premise baking, and a modern automatic dishwasher to assure customer safety.

In 1958, the Fifis family fulfilled their American dream by purchasing Ponzio's. Nick, Mike and Jim Fifis were committed to keeping the excellent standards that Mr. Ponzio had instilled. In 1964, a second location was purchased in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Ponzio's is now proudly owned and operated by second-generation Fifis family members.
